Alaska Midstream Manager

Role synopsis

The Midstream Manager is responsible for supporting joint venture governance in pursuit of safe, reliable, compliant and efficient operation of BP’s oil pipelines that transport Alaskan North Slope (ANS) crude. This includes BP’s interests in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS), Milne Point Pipeline, and Point Thomson Export Pipeline (PTEP).

Key accountabilities

  • Support the provision of safe, reliable, compliant and efficient transportation services to shippers of ANS from the North Slope through TAPS, and to the US West Coast.
  • Performance manage delivery of the above by influencing the operators of BP’s midstream assets – Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for TAPS, Harvest for Milne Point PL., and ExxonMobil for PTEP.
  • Meet all fiduciary requirements associated with being Vice President of BP (Pipelines) Alaska Inc. and BP Transportation (Alaska) Inc.
  • Provide leadership to Alyeska and TAPS through membership of TAPS Owners Committee.
  • Manage relationships with key regulators and assure compliance with terms of Rights of Way. Assure compliant operations of our contract operators (Alyeska, COP, XOM).
  • Assure optimum commercial common carrier performance as well as common carrier regulatory compliance. Make appropriate rate filings, manage litigation, etc.
  • Works collaboratively with TAPS partners to assure TAPS reliability.
  • Be active in the community in support of the AK Region and Alyeska.

Essential Education

  • BS or higher in technical and/or commercial disciplines.

Essential experience and job requirements

  • 10+ years of oil industry experience, preferably in transportation operations, supply and joint venture management.
  • Significant experience with the commercial aspects of regulated pipelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in an environment where diplomacy and influencing are the keys to success.
