Sourcing Assistant Manager

Role synopsis

The Assistant Manager manages the day-to-day operation activities of a sourcing and contracting team in Indirect Procurement. The team provides procurement support for procurement projects including a range of services across the full spectrum of Indirect Procurement accountabilities, and handling customer requests for all procurement within an agreed threshold.

The AM is charged with maximizing and leveraging strengths of team in a challenging environment, guiding by example and utilizing experience in directing team towards achieving and optimsing operational excellence whilst assuring silent running without compromising on safety of team.

Key accountabilities


  • Direct Line management for up to 15 team members ( HRPS, IT , E sourcing , One source , AML, Case Management and change Management) – this includes performance management for team members as appropriate
  • Create an inclusive environment recognising diversity of team members
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members & listen to team member feedback
  • Drive rewards and recognition program for team members
  • Drive team work ethos for the benefit of the company and the team
  • Create/ Review /Refresh KRAs for team members in order to align the team with specific process objectives
  • Assist in project coordination, recruitment, training and management of people
  • Support career development framework, personal development plans and succession planning for team

  • Responsible for day to day running of operations and administration within cost and quality constraints
  • Support the escalation, incident and problem management process within Indirect Procurement including developing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for issues, and leading the RCA process where necessary
  • Support development on Operational excellence which includes periodic reviews of performance dashboards
  • Ensure compliance to Standard operating processes and agreed OLA's
  • Accountable for operations supporting the UK, Houston and APAC time zones.
  • Ensure BP policy adherence in operations and raise warning for any key incidents
  • Ensure team is resourced adequately and optimally to meet delivery requirements
  • Demand Planning: - understand trends in demand and ensure SLA adherence even during seasonal peaks and troughs
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly meetings and operational reviews as required with offshore teams to resolve issues, and provide status reporting
  • Provide input and into “Licence to Operate” trainings required for team

Quality Management
  • Accountable for service delivery quality for team Implement and monitor the Quality framework to ensure Quality Assurance, Quality Audit, Quality improvement and Knowledge management initiates are running effectively

Change Management
  • Support change/s in services by managing the management of change process with stakeholders – internal & external
  • Help prepare business case for Change proposals
  • Support internal change communications and implementation
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and strive improvement towards operational excellence Risk Management & BCP
  • Identify and escalate risks to Operations Manager / Tower Lead
  • Managing risks and ensuring continuous operations including BCP

Essential Education

Bachelor Degree in any discipline and / or related field

Essential experience and job requirements

  • One to Three years supervisory, Team Lead, Manager, or Service Centre experience
  • Must be able to work in ANZ and / or UK and / or US shift
  • Overall 6 to 8 years experience. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the procurement of services and commodities with a detailed knowledge of contracts and legal terms, procurement strategy preparation, coupled with a strong commercial orientation, and negotiation experience
  • Proven people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Evidence of ability to work across disciplines and cultures and interface well, at all levels is essential
