Role synopsis

The Technical department, sub-department Plant Inspection (PID) is committed to the process of contributing to safety and environment, compliance with the current legislation and regulations, reliability and profitability goals of the BP Refinery Rotterdam. This is done using a risk-based monitoring of the condition of pressure equipment. For the Plant Inspection Department (PID) we are looking for a Dutch speaking:

Team Leader Inspection Department (PID)
As a Team Leader PID you ensure an efficient and effective functioning Plant Inspection Department (PID) / Inspection department Of the User (IVG) that complies with the legal requirements for pressure equipment, BP requirements for inspection and Integrity Management, and the internal PID quality management system. The team itself consist of about 25+ people.

Key accountabilities


⦁ The Inspection Authority for static pressure equipment designated by the BPRR executive board according to the BP ETP-GP 32-30 Management principles. As an Inspection Authority you are responsible for the review and approval of Management or Change applications;
⦁ Manages the Plant Inspection Department (PID) / Inspection department Of the User (IVG) which also includes the Electrical and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) testing program;
⦁ Ensures that there is sufficient enough trained and qualified staff and secures that that there is sufficient specialist assistance available, so that the inspection organization can exercise its responsibilities properly;
⦁ Informs the operational assets and the BPRR management on integrity issues, corrective actions and deviations, and exceeding the scheduled inspection activities and repairs;
⦁ Communicates with the NL-CBI surveyors, Asset Teams and other customers to measure and continuously improve the operation of the Plant Inspection Department;
⦁ Determines and maintains the BPRR inspection policies, procedures and practices, which are necessary to permanently comply with the legal requirements and Practice Rules for Pressure Equipment;
⦁ Provides input (including inspection requirements) for the creation of Annual Asset Plans, including the Annual Inspection Plans;
⦁ Manages inspection data and the inspection planning in Meridium and SAP;
⦁ Guarantees and monitors the quality of the PID&IVG activities and the continuous improvement of work processes and the quality management system; Participates in BP ICIF (Community of Practice) and Best Practice Teams.
⦁ Sustains the RBI system for tanks
⦁ Implements and sustains the BP Corrosion Management Improvement Program (CMIP)

Essential Education

BP Refinery Rotterdam asks for this position:
⦁ Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
⦁ Certificate I&K level 3 or LPI is a pré;
⦁ VCA-VOL (Safety for Supervisors);

Essential experience and job requirements

⦁ At least 5 years proven experience in the oil and/or petrochemical industry at Senior Inspector level;
⦁ Management experience in a technical environment;
⦁ Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations;
⦁ Knowledge of evaluation of inspection results and incidents;
⦁ Knowledge of the assessment of limit values;
⦁ Knowledge regarding the effectiveness of inspection and NDT methodologies;
⦁ Knowledge of degradation mechanisms especially considering the operating conditions of process equipment;
⦁ Knowledge regarding management measures in the field of maintenance, inspection and procedures specifically with respect to the design.
