Could you drive high performance through a global business?
At BP, we’re committed to providing the energy that fuels growth and improves lives but in new ways, with fewer emissions. These are big, complex challenges so it’s important that we unlock the full potential of our workforce.
Our Sourcing and Contracting (S&C) organization is here to deliver all sourcing, negotiation and contracting on behalf of Upstream PSCM. The team plays a key role in our business, as it’s responsible for capturing significant value, as well as mitigating risk in BP’s S&C activity.
About the opportunity
With a deep understanding of supplier, global and regional markets, you’ll support our Upstream Category Management Plan, Contract Information Database and other emerging requirements. So, your skills in RFI/P, evaluation, supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and operationalisation will play a key role.
As a S&C manager, you’ll lead the team into shaping and leading the concept of centralising sourcing and contracting for our Upstream PSCM. Plus, you’ll be responsible for leading an agile pool of specialists, to deliver all Source-to-Contract (S2C) activity in an efficient and effective manner, abiding by relevant BP policies and procedures.
In collaboration with our CM teams, you’ll consolidate, standardize and automate S&C activity as well as provide critical expertise that’ll support the delivery of advanced commercial models and alternative contracting mechanisms. You’ll provide end-to-end contract development and negotiation services, and make sure they’re approved by the relevant CGB, as well as executed by the relevant signing authority.
You’ll support the development and maintenance of supply risks programs. Deliver high-value complex negotiations and collaborative contracting, in response to our Category team’s business demand. And ensure the contracts in your areas of accountability are compliant to established contract standards - effectively operationalized by GBS in appropriate P2P systems.
Your commitment to excellence will ensure all sections of the in-scope contracts adequately describe the goods and services required by the business, and include all of BP’s requirements, reflect commercially appropriate compensation, and allocate risk in a responsible manner.
You’ll help us deliver a holistic S&C service that minimizes risk and maximizes value in BP’s supply chain. You’ll ensure the operationalization of all executed contracts and price books in SAP - including supplier engagement and enablement and follow-on issue resolution.
Providing expert commercial and contractual advice to internal and external stakeholders, will be something you’ll do to ensure all activity and reporting are accurate, legally compliant and within BP's policies. A great collaborator, you’ll support the constant improvement of the quality, delivery, cost and cash flow of the in-scope supply base – including the supply base rationalization, global sourcing opportunities, inflation management, increased spend leverage through global sourcing, and adoption of global agreements.
Working with the Commercial and Business Intelligence Team, you’ll review and integrate market conditions, competitor information, price concerns, new regulations, commodity, and international trade requirements. You’ll support the sourcing and development of new suppliers globally to maintain competitive advantage as market conditions change.
As a key leader in PSCM, you’ll also mentor and coach your team of up to 30 procurement professionals to drive operational excellence. You’ll motivate and lead by example, while optimizing costs and improving productivity for BP.
You’ve got an advanced university degree in Supply Chain, Business or other technical discipline, and have extensive leadership experience in Category Management and Procurement (P2P) activities.
You take pride in your deep sourcing & contracting experience across multiple categories and have a great understanding of regional requirements. You’ve got experience in dealing with PSA and concessionaire approvals. And your work with GBS at a global scale shows a demonstrated ability to influence others and collaborate across multiple disciplines, cultures and geographies.
Furthermore, your customer-focused attitude shows a desire to meet all the diverse needs across the customer life-cycle. Plus, you’re committed to create value for a wide range of stakeholders.
Tech savvy, you promote the use of technology that unlock agile solutions for the business. You’ve got a great knowledge of PSCM systems such as Compass/S2C and Ariba OneSource, Backbone/GFT and SAP. And always show a strong capability to apply business acumen with a proven track record of business delivery and continuous improvement.
With a demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity you’re always open to change and curious to try new ways of working. And your ability to listen and use your customers’ feedback, makes it easy to reconcile differences when needed. What’s more, you’ve got a natural ability to develop high-quality trust-based relationships with colleagues and understand the practices of ethical business behaviour as well as have managed and led a large sized team.
This role will be based in our Sunbury on Thames (UK) or Houston (US) offices.
