Job profile summary:

BP has embarked on an ambitious plan to modernize and transform using digital technologies to drive efficiency, effective and new business models.

You are a Software Engineering Specialist who works within a team to provide innovative, custom built software to BP colleagues and external users. This custom software either supports revenue earning activity or helps reduce costs within BP functions by automating manual activity. Ultimately, this work will help us become a digital leader in our sector, so we can drive energy transition and solve real-world problems.

At IT&S, all the roles are within Chapters. While your role will continue to remain within the Chapter, your initial activities described below may change over time.

Key Accountabilities
Software Engineering
Works with users, software engineers and business analysts to understand requirements for technical platforms.
Develops and tests custom built or customised IT platforms specific to RedHat Openshift. Contributes to designs.
Operates and maintains custom built or customised IT platforms.
Hands on development and implementation of Openshift PaaS platform with focus on automation.
Writing minimal design documentation sets
Automating tests
Working in a co-located agile team using Kanban and using collaboration tools like Slack & Microsoft Teams
Acts in accordance with coding standards, technical design, BP’s digital security standards and the need to design and build to operate.
Provides input to iterate and improve technical standards for platform engineering.

Essential Education
Tertiary education and/or equivalent relevant work experience.

Programming/Software Development in RedHat Openshift Container Technology
Understanding of Agile and DevOps cultural practises.
Linux and Windows operating systems; Shell and PowerShell scripting
AWS Cloud, Python/Java Scripting, Microsoft VSTS, Agile Kanban
Worked in environments with strong change control, digital security and compliance

Desirable Skills:
Microsoft Azure Container Technology
AWS Container Technology
RedHat Mobile Application Platform
